Join Furness Morris and Keep Morris Dancing Alive!

Furness Morris was formed in 1963 and has danced throughout the Furness area and the Lakes in many towns and villages. We have performed in the streets, in pubs, at fetes, garden parties, parades, festivals, and weddings. We have also visited Albert (twinned with Ulverston) 3 times and have toured Ireland and Scotland.

In recent years we have lost several members and have been struggling to recruit new dancers and musicians. We are unfortunately now at a stage where, unless we can find some new members, then sadly we will need to wind up the team. We don’t want to do this, but we can’t continue as we are.

We discussed our future at a meeting last week. So, what are we going to do?

Of course, anyone is welcome to join us at any time, but we are also going to hold 2 drop-in sessions where anyone is welcome to come and give Morris Dancing a go.  Suitable for complete beginners, all tuition provided (and sticks!). If you’re a musician, we can provide all music for you. Details of free sessions below.

We love Morris Dancing, and we’re sure that others will too if they give it a try.

What’s not to like – We are a mixed side and a welcoming social bunch who dance, play, laugh (and enjoy the odd pint) together. Morris Dancing is a great workout that boosts your fitness, balance, and co-ordination.
