The Barrow & District Disability Association (BDDA) is one of Furness’s longest-serving community organisations, dedicated to supporting disabled people, their families, and carers across the peninsula. At the heart of BDDA’s work is a genuine commitment to improving everyday life for disabled residents. Their Disablement Advice and Benefits Service provides clear, friendly guidance on welfare rights, benefits, and entitlements—offering reassurance during what can often be a confusing process. The association also provides valuable mobility support, including short-term wheelchair hire and access to RADAR keys, giving local people greater independence when navigating their communities.

BDDA’s community centre is a hub of activity, hosting regular social groups, coffee mornings, and events that help reduce isolation and bring people together in a safe, accessible environment.
