Part-Time Payroll Administrator

£11.50 – £12.50 per hour (DOE)

 

We are currently seeking a Payroll Administrator to provide administration support to our Payroll Officer. This is a part-time role, working 24 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday, 8 hrs per day. You will be working at our head office, in Ulverston, Cumbria.

 

This role will suit an individual who enjoys a variety and where no two days are the same. The primary purpose of this position is to independently perform all activities necessary to assist the processing of payroll. The ideal candidate will have previous payroll experience (SAGE 50 would be an advantage) and have recently worked in a similar role. You will enjoy problem solving and have excellent attention to detail and communication skills. You will thrive in this role with good customer service with an organised and methodical approach to your work.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Responsible for processing both weekly and salaried timesheets, invoices and vehicle inspection sheets provided by several routes of communication
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of payroll data relating to deductions / allowances
  • Accountable for the accurate transmission of data from timesheets and the time and attendance system, making any adjustments or corrections as necessary
  • Calculate correct amounts of hours, deductions, overtime, bonuses, commission, and sick absence
  • Investigate and resolve all general payroll related queries including discrepancies with timesheets by liaising with the relevant manager
  • Ensure the rates of pay records are kept up-to-date
  • Ensure all payroll systems and files are kept up to date and documents and are maintained accurately
  • Maintain and focus on continuous improvement, standardising processes, and streamlining where possible
  • Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills and maintain a high degree of confidentially
  • Provide guidance, support and consistently sound advice to managers and staff on the full range of payroll enquiries
  • Regularly liaise with the Finance Team to ensure they have all relevant payroll related information
  • Assist in the development and influence of new computer-based systems
  • To learn and provide resilience for the payroll function

 

In addition, there will be a variety of other general administration activities and provision of support to the HR Team.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Knowledge of up-to-date Payroll legislation (desirable)
  • Have experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook packages
  • Be well organised and be able to work under pressure and prioritise workload
  • Can problem solve independently and with confidence
  • Possess good attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deal confidently with employees, managers and external stakeholders
  • Previous experience in a Human Resources or Payroll environment is preferable
